Part 1
What are you gazing at,
Upon that pitch-black screen?
Far away on the hills,
The scent of pine comes through.
Today just like any other days, that passes in pain and gloom,
Time just drifts along,
Slipping right through the room.
In my own memory, this world always stay the same,
A “Walled Garden” built, of proprietary shame.
We run together now, toward to the freedom where we seek,
Proprietary software that we waved final “Goodbye” and we will never meet.
Can’t find an FOSS alternative, so from family I’m detached,
Just remember well, the first time that the “Walled Garden” I unlatched.
Long since, I’ve been used to, the golden cage,
Not even grasping, what “freedom” really means.
Part 2
Feeling unconsciously, just wandering alone on the roof,
Chasing the future needing the proof,
to build a free and open phone.
Finally, there’s a day, my dream comes true,
Bootloader unlock is my need.
Typing command lines ,then power light shines,
Saying “Walled Garden,” goodbye!
Logs start to scroll, acrossing all the blank screen,
Shaking my heart, there is a sight that I never seen.
Just ‘cause “proprietary” broke it, the phone is near its end,
The teen who loved to flash, has now grown up again.
Even if it bricks, or Crashdump, it’s fine, flashing’s still continuous tense,
If I’m feeling sad, just switch a new device,
And start it all from scratch.
Beyond the walls, there is, a freedom true,
Found my own place, a place to call my own.
Bridge
Phone comes back home, time to starts again,
“Unlock” conditions, seem tougher now than then.
Masters of code, with ease I will thrive,
Laughing in Linux, feeling alive!
Ending
We run together now, toward to the freedom where we seek,
Proprietary software that we waved final “Goodbye” and we will never meet.
Not caring all the technical details, but I remember that day,
The courage to change, the brave practice that paved the way.
Relying on code, that’s closed to the eye,
Until I knew, how to soar in the sky.
Privacy now, is mine to command,
Come on, let’s laugh out loud, again.
